Ohana- One of the Best Dining Experiences at Disney World!

A wooden plaque hangs on a post. It says "Ohana" and has flames above the word.

Choosing a place to eat can be very overwhelming in Walt Disney World. Not only are there four parks with dining options, but a plethora of resorts all boasting world class experiences as well. The Polynesian Resort is home to one of my favorites- Ohana restaurant.

Dining at Disney’s Ohana Restaurant

Upon entering the Polynesian Resort near Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom, you will immediately be transported to the islands! Located on the second floor is Ohana.

Breakfast at Ohana

Breakfast is served daily from 7:30 AM to 12:15 PM. The meal is an All-You-Care-to-Enjoy meal and everyone is served the same items (unless there are dining restrictions or allergies). During breakfast your table will be visited by Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch. (Dinner is NOT a character meal.)

The current pricing is $53 for adults (ages 10+) and $33 for children.

The Breakfast Menu

When you enter the restaurant your “cousin” who happens to be your server, (we are all cousins at Ohana, because Ohana means family!) will stop and get you a fresh plate of pineapple coconut breakfast bread.

I do not like pineapple or coconut, but I love this bread! It is sticky and sweet and hard to stop at just one piece.

Next your cuz will bring around the POG juice. To the unindoctrinated, POG stands for papaya, orange and guava and the combo is another Disney staple. Also found at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom and occasionally in a mimosa around the property, this twist on orange juice is one of my favorites.

You can also order tea, coffee, pop, cocktails etc. to enjoy with your meal. Specialty drinks are at an additional cost.

The rest of your meal is as follows:

  • Fruit
  • Scrambled Eggs
  • Hawaiian-style Ham with Pineapple Compote (the ham is coated in the pineapple)
  • Pork Breakfast Sausage Links
  • Fried Island-style Potatoes
  • Mickey-shaped and Stitch Character Waffles
  • Warm Biscuits

Characters at Ohana

During breakfast, characters will also come around to your table to say hi, give hugs and take photos. Although we were given an autograph card at the beginning of our meal (which sometimes means characters won’t give autographs during the meal), I did see plenty of kiddos getting things signed by Mickey and his friends.

The characters perform in a fun dance/parade to “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” during the meal and then rotate around the tables. Will this be your first character meal? Read my guide to learn what to expect here.

Dinner at Ohana

Dinner time at Ohana runs from 3:30 PM to 10:00 PM. While the meal is still All-You-Care-to-Enjoy, there are NO characters present. Prices are currently $67 for adults and $44 for children ages 10 and up.

Meals come with coffee, tea or a soft drink. There is a bar menu available as well (may I recommend the Lapu, Lapu?)

‘Cousins’ will once again start your table off with wonderful warm bread upon your arrival. The signature ‘Ohana Bread’ comes with honey butter.

I unfortunately have not eaten dinner at this restaurant in almost a decade! Check out AllEars.net for photos.

The rest of the dinner menu is:

  • A Mixed Green Salad with a Citrus Vinaigrette
  • Pork Dumplings tossed in Garlic-Chili Sauce
  • Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings
  • Wood Fire-grilled Black Pepper-Teriyaki Beef
  • Peel-n-Eat Shrimp coated with ‘Ohana Seasoning
  • Grilled Chicken with Guava-Pineapple Glaze
  • ‘Ohana Noodles with Teriyaki
  • Stir-fry Vegetables

Plant based options are also available.

Dessert is another winner- the infamous Ohana Bread Pudding. Yet another thing I don’t enjoy in daily life, but will happily have seconds of in Disney World!

Please excuse this poorly lit photo from a decade ago:

A bowl of Ohana bread pudding sits on a table. The pudding has a scoop of melting vanilla ice cream on top. There is a small pitcher of caramel sauce next to the bowl.

Some reviews you will see from the past will also mention Coconut Races. Kids used to be given the opportunity to swat coconuts around the restaurant with brooms. My understanding is that this fun has not returned since the Covid shutdown.

During your meal, you may also enjoy the songs of a ukulele player. We loved the live music and hope it continues!

How to get to the Ohana Restaurant

As I said at the top, Ohana is located on the second floor of Disney’s Polynesian Resort. You can arrive to the restaurant a number of ways. If you are taking Disney transportation, be sure to give yourself about an hour. Read all about Disney transport in my blog post here- Navigating Transportation in Disney World

Here is a list of your options:

  • Private Car- This is the absolute easiest if you are coming from outside the Disney area or from a resort that is further away. When you arrive at the security booth they will ask to confirm your reservation and direct you to parking. You will only be able to leave your car there for a limited (but reasonable) amount of time. Meaning, you cannot park at the Polynesian, eat breakfast and then leave your car there all day while you go to the Magic Kingdom.
  • Rideshare/Minnie Van- Another very easy, but not free, form of transportation. The driver will be stopped at the security booth. Once you tell them you have a reservation, the driver will be able to drop you off right at the front doors of the resort.
  • Monorail- Coming from another monorail resort, the Magic Kingdom or Epcot? The Polynesian is also on the monorail line so just hop on and get off at the right stop!
  • Bus- If you are coming from a Disney Park or Disney Springs, you are able to hop aboard the bus for the Polynesian Resort. Remember, this resort does not have buses at the Magic Kingdom or Epcot since you can ride the monorail instead.

Advanced Dining Reservations at Ohana Restaurant

While Ohana does have a walk-up waiting list, you most likely will only get to eat at this restaurant by obtaining an Advanced Dining Reservation. If you are unsure what an ADR is, you definitely need to read my article on the subject!

Ohana is one of the reservations that is more difficult to get. On my last trip, I only needed a later breakfast reservation for two people and I didn’t get it until two days beforehand! This is one of those restaurants not to mention to the kids until you’ve successfully booked it. If you are really needing a helping hand in getting dining reservations, I suggest using a third party site like Mouse Dining to help you (no affiliation).
