Homecomin’- A Top Restaurant in Disney Springs

Dining at the Walt Disney World Resort is a spoil of riches. There are so many restaurants that even with eating three meals a day, it would take you over 19 weeks to eat at all of the locations! With so many choices, how do you know where to spend your Disney dollars? Let me offer you some advice: Start at Homecomin’ by Chef Art Smith in Disney Springs and you won’t be disappointed!

A wooden sign, painted blue and white, hangs from an L shaped bracket. It reads, "Chef Art Smith's Homecomin', Florida Kitchen, Southern Shine."

Homecomin’ By Chef Art Smith

If the name Art Smith sounds familiar to you, you may have grown up watching Oprah on TV like I did. He was Oprah’s personal chef for 10 years and was often on the show. He has several cookbooks and still contributes to O Magazine as well.

So what happens when you take an award winning southern chef and give him space in the Walt Disney World Resort? Homecomin’ happens! This restaurant is full of charm, butter and moonshine and I love it!

What’s on the Menu?

Moonshine, Whiskey, etc.

A flight of four moonshine shots sit on a white board. The board has the Homecomin restaurant logo on it. There is also a shot glass of candied almonds.
A Moonshine Flight

A huge part of the Homecomin’ vibe is their moonshine offerings. In fact, the restaurant also has an adjacent bar called Shine Bar with outdoor seating. Pictured above is a Moonshine Flight of their signature infused moonshines. This photo was taken a while back and the current menu is offering a flight of three moonshines, not the four pictured. Infused flavors are currently watermelon, lemon and pineapple. I learned that I am not really a moonshine girl, my favorite part of the flight was the candied almonds.

If you are also not a moonshine person, Homecomin’ has plenty of other items on the bar menu. During my recent trip I tried the Florida Crush cocktail. According to the menu, this drink is, “Tito’s Handmade Vodka muddled with orange and strawberries, a splash of fresh squeezed Florida orange juice and agave syrup.”

An orange drink in a clear glass with ice and an orange slice on top.
The Florida Crush

This drink just tasted like boozy orange juice in my opinion. I didn’t get any of the strawberry flavor at all. It would’ve probably been a nice compliment to a brunch, but I wouldn’t order it again with dinner. For the current menu of whiskey and moonshine choices, click here. Appetizers

The appetizers at Homecomin are the reason I love this restaurant so much. I could happily just eat appetizers every time I come here! The menu has stayed consistent over the years because everything is just that good. Here are some that I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy:

  • Bunch of Puppies- A basket of hush puppies served with pimento cheese and pepper jelly. These hush puppies had corn inside of them. They tasted good if you can ignore the fact that corn does not belong in anything.
  • Bee Haven Fried Green Tomatoes- Perfect fried green tomatoes with shaved ham, fresh greens and a remoulade sauce. 10/10 no notes, chefs kiss, etc.
Shrimp cocktail sit upon a mountain of mango and avocado with a reddish brown sauce on the bottom of a white plate.
  • Keywest Shrimp Cocktail- According to Allears.net, this dish is, “Seasoned shrimp mixed with mango, cucumber, avocado, and house-made cocktail sauce. Served with buttermilk crackers” This is not your beginner’s shrimp cocktail and my daughter will let you know that. She refused to eat this despite shrimp being a favorite. Her dad took one for the team and gave it a try, it received two thumbs up.
  • Church Lady Deviled Eggs- These are “southern style deviled eggs”. I’m not quite sure what that means, but they had pickled onions on top and were delicious…which they should be for $14!

The rest of the appetizer menu that I have not (yet) had the pleasure of trying includes:

  • Fried pickles
  • Bacon wrapped shrimp
  • Thigh High Chicken Biscuits
  • The Jasper Board- Southern charcuterie

I am also going to include Momma’s Mac and Cheese in this section, despite it officially being a side item and not an appetizer. My daughter attempts to order macaroni and cheese almost everywhere we go and I always take a taste test. This mac and cheese was AMAZING. Truly so, so good. We will be ordering it every time we eat here from now on.

Main Courses

Should you have managed to save room for an actual main course after all of those amazing appetizers, you have some heavy (and I do mean heavy) hitters to choose from. Homecomin’ features dinner plates, salads and sandwiches for your main entree choices.

However, the signature dish is the fried chicken and donuts.

A plate of fried chicken and two glazed donuts are dusted with powdered sugar.

The fried chicken is absolute perfection and the glazed donuts are a fun spin on the traditional chicken and waffles. They are served with a side of spicy syrup as well as amazing ( I think I need a thesaurus for that word because I’ve used it so many times for this restaurant!) mashed potatoes.
