How to plan 30 days of dinner
So way back, a long time ago, during one of the initial iterations of this blog, I promised more meal planning tips. In my Meal Planning 101 post I told you how I choose meals for each week. I’ve now upped the ante and plan my meals for the entire month! Instead of agonizing over meal choices on a weekly basis, I’m able to spend a half an hour once a month to get this chore done.
Prior to the beginning of a new month I sit down with my calendar to mark what days need to have quick dinners or that we’ll be eating elsewhere. I also take a second to go through my freezer inventory to see what I already have available to cook. Based on this information I start writing down a dinner idea for each day of the month. I take this time to dig through those Pinterest recipes that I’ve saved and never actually made too!
Meal Inspiration
Here are 30 meals to inspire your dinners for the next month! Ideas requiring a recipe will have links to a direct site, some may be Pinterest links as well. I often use slow cookers, Instant Pots and an air fryer to speed dinner along on busy nights. Here are links to what I use at home:

Side Dishes and Leftovers
As I’m sure you’ve noticed, the above list covers the main dish only. Even though I’m meal planning by the month, I am still shopping weekly. At the beginning of each week I make sure the dinners still work with our plans and figure out side dishes at that point. I always have frozen microwaveable veggies on hand and we usually rotate through rice, potatoes and pasta on the side as well.
Each month things come up and we will have meal ideas that we don’t use due to eating leftovers or just grabbing a pizza instead. Those “leftover” ideas are the first ones I use when planning the following month’s meals. They’re freebies, and I love me some freebies!
Let me know what you think about planning by the month! Be sure to follow me on Pinterest too where I am always finding new recipes.
