Ben & Jerry’s- A Visit to Ice Cream Heaven

If you’re ever traveling through Vermont, then a stop at Ben & Jerry’s Factory in Waterbury, Vermont is a must. Take time to go on the factory tour, wander the Flavor Graveyard or just grab a cone for a sweet treat!

The Ben & Jerry’s Factory is located at 1281 Waterbury-Stowe Road, in Waterbury, Vermont. This is about 30 miles east of Burlington and 200 miles northwest of Boston. Seemingly located in farm country, there isn’t too much nearby the Factory. Listed under the “Visit Vermont” tab at BenJerry.com, you can find a short list of other area attractions as well as things to do in the greater area.

Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour

Unfortunately, during our visit, the tour was unavailable. However, I’ve gathered all of the info here, just for you.

What is the Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour?

After watching a short film, you will then go on a 30 minute guided tour to see where the ice cream is made. Along the way you will get to sample some of the product! As production schedules vary, there is no guarentee that you will see active production during your tour. Plan for the entire experience to last 60-90 minutes.

How to get tour tickets

Tour tickets are available up to two weeks ahead of your desired date. It is highly recommended you reserve your tickets in advance by going to the tour website. You can also call for additional information at 802-337-1201. Current ticket prices are as follows:

  • Adults $6.00
  • Seniors 65+ $5.00
  • Children 2-12 $1.00
  • Children 2 and under are FREE

Tours run 10 AM to 6 PM daily, with the last tour leaving at 5:00 PM.

If you are unable to get tickets online ahead of time, there may be walk-up tour tickets available. It is recommended to visit early in the day if you are hoping for these last minute tickets.

Flavor Graveyard at Ben & Jerry’s

Looking for something else to do after your tour? Don’t leave the Factory without a visit to the Flavor Graveyard! Not all ideas are good ones, and Ben & Jerry can acknowledge their past transgressions. Wander the tombstones and pay your respects to the flavors that are no longer with us.

Before you leave the Factory, or perhaps if you’re a bit early for your tour, be sure to visit the shop and get a scoop! Flavor choices vary but your favorite Ben & Jerry’s will most likely be available to enjoy in a cone.

Take your ice cream outside to enjoy at one of many picnic tables. There are also plenty of photo opportunities around the grounds.

A large RV or bus is completely painted in a mural.  There is a blue sky and cows on grass.  On the sky reads, "Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream". In smaller letters underneath the front, side window reads, "Vermont's  Finest All Natural".

If you need the kids to burn off some of that sugar, there is also a small playground.
