Hot Dog Mummies- A Fun & Fast Halloween Meal!
Even though Halloween was almost an entire month ago, I’m just now getting around to posting about these cute little hot dog mummies! Its tradition at our house to have them each year right around Halloween, but they’d also be a fun homeschool lunch during an Egypt unit. Read on to see how easy it can be to play with your food!

Playing with your food- Hot Dog Mummies!
As I said above, I’ve been making these simple little mummies for my kids every Halloween since I can remember. They take five minutes to put together and then you just follow the instructions on the Crescent Roll can for baking!
Ingredients
- Hot Dogs
- Crescent Rolls
- Mustard/Ketchup per your preference
That’s It! And conveniently enough, there’s eight hot dogs in the pack and eight Crescent Rolls.
Directions
- Preheat your oven according to the Crescent Roll package. The instructions are different based on what type of pan you’re using.
- Use parchment paper to line your pan (or use a non-stick pan).
- Separate out each Crescent Roll triangle (see photo below).
Option 1 for Hot Dog Mummies
- Place the hot dog parallel to the short side of the triangle (see photo above).
- Roll the hot dog towards the triangle point. Be sure to leave a space for the mummy face.
Option 2 for Hot Dog Mummies
- Cut each triangle of dough into 1/2-1 inch strips. (See photo above.)
- Individually wrap the hot dog in 3-4 strips, leaving space for the mummy’s face near the top. This method gives more texture to the mummy’s appearance. It can also stretch the activity if you’re having your kiddos help with this process!
4) Repeat for all of the hot dogs/dough.
5) Bake according to directions on Crescent Roll package (again, this may very depending on what pan you’re using) and until Crescent Rolls are golden brown and hot dog is heated through.
6) Using mustard and/or ketchup, add a face to your cute little creation!
Obviously the spooky little dogs will be very hot once baked, so be sure to let them cool down a bit before enjoying.
