A Toy Story Birthday Party that is Out of this World!

Since Covid prevented birthday gatherings for a few years, I went all out on my youngest’s 4th birthday! Check out my take on a Toy Story birthday complete with ideas for food, decorations and activities.

How to plan the ultimate Toy Story birthday party!

Since I knew I was inviting half the world to this party, I began planning months in advance. Summer weather in the Midwest is anything but predictable, so step one was to rent a huge tent. The tent area became Pizza Planet!

Pizza Planet

The tent was where all of the tables and chairs were, as well as the prize table. I love when I can make centerpieces functional, so I went with big red buckets, made a label with my trusty Cricut and filled them with:

-A roll of paper towel (instead of providing individual napkins)
Parmesan cheese packets
Red pepper flakes
-Individual silverware packs
-Some game tickets just for fun

I used gingham table clothes to complete the pizza place look. Since this was Pizza Planet I made aliens and added some space themed decorations to the ceiling of the tent. Our prize table had a bag for each child with a personalized water bottle. There were buckets of small space/Toy Story themed toys for them to put in their bags as well.

In the yard was the “game” section of Pizza Planet. We lucked out with a beautiful day and were able to play giant Jenga, ring toss, cornhole and even (plastic) axe throwing! (Similar set available here: https://amzn.to/3tYlDJ5)

I also made a giant felt Mr. Potato Head for the baby/toddler crowd. We stapled it to our playset and it was a huge hit!

Al’s Toy Barn

I don’t know about your house, but mine is swimming in STUFF. Toys, clothes, books, you name it, after three kids, we’ve got it! I wanted as many people as possible to come celebrate with us, but I didn’t want anyone to feel obligated to purchase a gift. My birthday kiddo was old enough to understand what donating was, so we decided to host a donation table instead of a gift table. All gifts were donated to a local children’s hospital after they were dropped off at Al’s Toy Barn!

Food at a Toy Story Birthday Party

Food is arguably the most important part of any gathering and our Pizza Planet theme made it easy to plan the main course! We ordered pizza and breadsticks for a crowd and I also made a bunch of Toy Story themed food as well. This party was definitely brought to you by my Cricut. I used it to make cute labels for each item.

Pictured Below:

  • -Bo Peep’s Sheep Rice Cereal Treats
  • Pixar Ball Cake Pops – Placed in a Styrofoam dome painted to look like the Pixar Ball
  • Mr. Watermelon Head! We served fruit salad with the watermelon as a base.
  • Ducky & Bunny’s Sugar Rush Cookies
  • “There’s a Snake in my Boots” chocolate pudding with a gummy worm. Plastic cowboy boot shot glasses made the perfect vessel for homemade pudding. I also bought mini spoons to make eating it easier.
  • “Andy’s Mom has got it going on”-adult punch (IYKYK)
  • “Ham” and cheese platter

More ideas:

  • Slinky Dog Pasta Salad
  • Wagon Wheels
  • Buttercup’s Cake Batter Dip
  • Using ‘Mega Gulp’ labels for water bottles

Decor

As you can see I had a lot of fun with this Toy Story birthday theme! The characters are so well known and loved that it was easy to make a lot of decorations. You’ve already seen my take on Pizza Planet outside, join me inside to see how I turned my kitchen into Andy’s Room!

Photo Wall

Using this roll of table cloth, I covered an entire wall of my kitchen. I cut out the letters of my child’s name and made the area a great spot for photos. Not pictured is the balloon arch that surrounded the area-

You will definitely want a helping hand to put together this arch!

More indoor Toy Story decor

I also used fishing line to string together toy army men and draped them around different places in my kitchen.

Using my Cricut (I swear, this party would’ve never been as epic without it!) I cut out big monkeys from a Barrel of Monkeys.

A final touch to the inside of the house was my Etch-A-Sketch photo frames. I made these and then put a picture from each year inside of them. I loved them so much I still have a few hanging above my desk as I type this!

Best Toy Story Birthday Ever?

Was this the best Toy Story birthday party ever?! It certainly was for my kids! We had the best time getting into a theme that the whole family could enjoy and finally getting to see so many of our friends and family.
