Where to post a job when you’re a small business

Small businesses need help getting top talent for a budget. They aren’t going to reach out to a large recruiting firm to bring in candidates. Small businesses need a top posting site, on a budget.

Did you know that there are many options for posting jobs online for free? These posts will be viewed by hundreds of potential applicants each day. Here is my list of the best free job post sites. Now, there are many other sites that have “free trials” but this list is for those truly FREE job posting sites.

Zip Recruiter

Zip Recruiter is by far one of the top locations on this list. With a couple clicks, your posting is visible on hundreds of job sites. This distribution is free for anyone who needs to hire someone. There is a paid version that will match your post with candidates AND you can invite them to apply from the website. Using ZipRecruiter, there is a strong likelihood for finding a quality candidate your first day. There is no limit to the job postings or candidates you receive on the free plan.

Indeed

Indeed is possibly one of the most widely known individual job sites, and they also allow for job postings for free. These posts show up in the general search results. This simply means you won’t be able to target specific keywords for free. At the end of the day, a well written job listing will have enough power to find the best candidates against the other job listings.

Handshake

Some of the best talent out there are recent college graduates, who are eager to prove their new degree in the real world. Look no further than Handshake. At Handshake, they allow you to post jobs, and sign up for career fairs and events for free. There are more than 500 colleges and universities that they partner with to get your listing seen.

Chegg Internships

Perhaps you listing requires an intern? Look no further than Chegg Internships. A publicly traded company, Chegg tries to solve everything for college students. This includes lining them up with internships. Posting an internship is free, and you can post paid or college credit internship opportunities.

The Ladders

Perhaps you are on a budget to find someone who will make $100,000 or more. The ladders is where this talent pool lives. With their free plan, you have access to 10 job postings per month to land someone for your high paying position.

Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc)

Lastly, there is a lot of power in posting to your social platforms. When you have a position you need filled, why not seek out the fans that already follow you on your social media accounts? They’re more likely to jump at the opportunity, since they believe in you enough to follow your every move.

I hope I’ve provided you with enough insight that you can start searching for candidates on a budget. The best part is, even though these sites are free, you will get the most visibility here anyway. Let me know in the comments if you’ve had success on these sites of finding your perfect candidate.
