However the multitude of things we are missing out on is getting hard to explain to the kids. First dance competitions, basketball playoffs, 5th grade graduation, time with family, birthday parties, weddings… and perhaps the worst for the kids, we are missing out on a Disney trip. This trip has been in the making for a year and a…

    Heart Pump Experiment

    May 15, 2020 /

Updated September 2023 To go with our homeschooling circulation week, I found this heart pump experiment on Pinterest from www.Team-Cartwright.com. As usual I found a great idea and tried to make it my own, keep reading to see how our version of the heart pump experiment turned out. Blood & Circulation Activities

    May 15, 2020 /

Updated September 2023 When homeschooling became mandatory (article originally written in 2020) it was clear the kids needed more to keep them busy than what the school was providing virtually. I decided to go back to what I had learned in elementary school. Things like cursive, memorizing multiplication facts and the states & capitals. I also decided to dive into the systems of the human body. (Affiliate links included, I may earn a small commission if you click on one of the links, at no extra cost to you!) We started with the basics- what is blood and how does it work in our bodies? Keep scrolling for blood and…

I like the idea of teaching them things they are interested in and having the freedom and time to immerse ourselves in a topic. Eventually I decided against this because of a full time job. I feel so lucky that we’ve had some crash courses in this over the past few summers (see here for ideas!). My kids are used to me attempting to make things…
