He was so looking forward to going to his restaurant during our trip. It wasn’t even in our original plan but L was so insistent we made room in the schedule. We’ve even watched YouTube videos reviewing the menu items! Luckily for me, the menu is pretty simple and easy to replicate. We…

I’ll take my Corona with lime…

Originally posted Spring 2020 Embracing the situation and figuring out how to enjoy Disney World from home. The Coronavirus, Covid-19, will define the year 2020. It has brought with it death, destruction and disappointment. We are so very lucky at my house to be safe & able to work from home. However the multitude of things we are missing out on is getting hard to explain to the kids. First dance competitions, basketball playoffs, 5th grade graduation, time with family, birthday parties, weddings… and perhaps the worst for the kids, we are missing out on a Disney trip. This trip has been in the making for a year and a…

    Blood & Circulation Activities

Updated September 2023 When homeschooling became mandatory (article originally written in 2020) it was clear the kids needed more to keep them busy than what the school was providing virtually. I decided to go back to what I had learned in elementary school. Things like cursive, memorizing multiplication facts and the states & capitals. I also decided to dive into the systems of the human body. (Affiliate links included, I may earn a small commission if you click on one of the links, at no extra cost to you!) We started with the basics- what is blood and how does it work in our bodies? Keep scrolling for blood and…

    This week in homeschooling…

Originally posted May 2020 I always considered homeschooling my kids. And also because I knew I could never have enough patience to argue teach my kids when they weren’t feeling it. Cut to 2020 Homeschooling is happening now whether I like it or not! I feel so lucky that we’ve had some crash courses in this over the past few summers (see here for ideas!). My kids are used to me attempting to make things…

One of the first projects we attempted this summer was Chalk Rockets.  Sounds awesome, right? Well, in my typical fashion I crossed all of my t’s on this experiment but forgot to dot the i’s.  Let me explain… I found this activity on Growing a Jeweled Rose, their version and successes can be seen here. The idea is to make homemade chalk, load a film canister with it, add an Alka-Seltzer and blast off-messy, colorful chalk…
