Making Magic-One Meal at a Time

Since we can’t go to Disney in person I am bringing the Disney magic home to us! After our super successful brunch we “traveled” to Disney Springs for dinner to eat at Chicken Guy. See my awesome & realistic decor below:
L has been obsessed with Guy Fieri for a very long time. He was so looking forward to going to his restaurant during our trip. It wasn’t even in our original plan but L was so insistent we made room in the schedule. We’ve even watched YouTube videos reviewing the menu items!
Luckily for me, the menu is pretty simple and easy to replicate. We used frozen chicken fingers (easy!). I also had boxed mac & cheese and pre-made coleslaw as side dishes (easy, easy!).
Dipping Sauces
Now for the important part- the sauces! The Chicken Guy website for the Disney Springs location features 22 signature sauces (www.chickenguy.com). My version of the restaurant featured nine.
-Ketchup (for M who insists on eating ketchup with every meal at the moment)
-Ranch (for the non-adventurous E)
-Buffalo (store bought-easy!)
-Garlic Parmesan (store bought-easy!)
-Yum Yum sauce (again, store bought & easy!)
-Sweet & Sour (equal parts ketchup & grape jelly, sounds weird, tastes good) See this recipe for sweet & sour meatballs
-Donkey Sauce- This is Guy Fieri’s signature sauce, I used this recipe. We liked it but it was a bit heavy on the garlic for the meal in my opinion.
-Mojo sauce- See the recipe here. We thought this would be better served as a hamburger spread or marinade than a dipping sauce.
-Nashville Hot Honey- Surprisingly yummy, find my version here.
The individual sauces were a huge hit with the kids. Even though we were eating boring food we’ve had a million times before, everything seemed to taste better because it was fun! Everyone was excited to see what surprise would come next.
Comment: What restaurant would you want to replicate at home?
