Simple Beauty and the Beast Dinner Menu & Decor Ideas
In Disney World you can visit the Beast’s castle (of Beauty and the Beast fame) by eating at Be Our Guest restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. That’s just what we did for our sixth evening of our Disney staycation. Below I’ve captured our semi-homemade meal and table decor for a fun family theme dinner! Some links are affiliate links, by clicking on them and/or making a purchase, I may make a small commission at no extra cost to you. Taquitos in Epcot
Originally posted Spring 2020 *Post may contain affiliate links TLDR: Easy taquito recipe inspired by the Mexico pavilion at Disney’s Epcot. I tweeted out a hint as to our Disney destination today, where do you think we’re going? Did you guess Epcot? Good job! Bienvenidos a Mexico! Epcot is occasionally my favorite park. Even though it sometimes gets a bad wrap as the educational or boring park, it has a lot of the best food in all of Walt Disney World. Had I been feeling more adventurous I would’ve tackled fish n’ chips or the fanciest of French food for our Epcot dinner…but we’re in month two of quarantine and…

Pandora Pinterest Fails
TLDR: Recipes from Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom So far our Disney week at home has been full of all hits, no misses….until I “took” us to Pandora in the Animal Kingdom. For starters this is what the tiny one did to my kitchen: Recovering from that, I set out to make the food of Pandora from Satu’li Canteen and Pongu Pongu. Steamed Cheeseburger Pods The beautiful picture above (compliments of http://Disneydishesblog.com) is what a cheeseburger pod from Satu’li Canteen looks like. It is a bun stuffed with ground beef, cheese, ketchup, mustard and pickles. I decided to make my own baked version of this park favorite. Cheeseburger Stuffed Crescent…

Make Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie Treats at Home!
Disney World Staycation This post finds you smack in the middle of our Disney staycation, compliments of Covid. Each day we “visit” a different part of the Walt Disney World Resort. Our homeschooling lessons are also inspired by Disney! For the sake of readability and organization I am going to do a separate post on all of our Disney homeschooling activities. You can find them here and here. In the meantime I will continue with our daily food updates this week! Today we once again concentrated on the Magic Kingdom (see yesterday’s menu here) and made homemade Mickey Mouse Rice Krispie Treats. Later we will enjoy dinner “at” The Plaza.…

Our Disney Staycation-Day 3 Sleepy Hollow & Casey’s Corner
I hope you have been enjoying our “travels” to Walt Disney World as we stay in the safety of our quarantined home. The kids are fully on board with the fun and even made themselves Magic Bands today! (Magic Bands can be worn in WDW to access your resort room, pay for items and many more functions.) In today’s edition we are focusing on food again! We will be eating our meals from Sleepy Hollow and Casey’s Corner in the Magic Kingdom. First up-lunch. Sleepy Hollow Sleepy Hollow is a quick service/snack restaurant in Liberty Square of the Magic Kingdom. We fell in love with the place on our first…

Making Magic-One Meal at a Time
Originally posted Spring 2020 Since we can’t go to Disney in person I am bringing the Disney magic home to us! After our super successful brunch we “traveled” to Disney Springs for dinner to eat at Chicken Guy. See my awesome & realistic decor below: L has been obsessed with Guy Fieri for a very long time. He was so looking forward to going to his restaurant during our trip. It wasn’t even in our original plan but L was so insistent we made room in the schedule. We’ve even watched YouTube videos reviewing the menu items! Luckily for me, the menu is pretty simple and easy to replicate. We…

I’ll take my Corona with lime…
Originally posted Spring 2020 Embracing the situation and figuring out how to enjoy Disney World from home. The Coronavirus, Covid-19, will define the year 2020. It has brought with it death, destruction and disappointment. We are so very lucky at my house to be safe & able to work from home. However the multitude of things we are missing out on is getting hard to explain to the kids. First dance competitions, basketball playoffs, 5th grade graduation, time with family, birthday parties, weddings… and perhaps the worst for the kids, we are missing out on a Disney trip. This trip has been in the making for a year and a…

Heart Pump Experiment
Updated September 2023 To go with our homeschooling circulation week, I found this heart pump experiment on Pinterest from www.Team-Cartwright.com. As usual I found a great idea and tried to make it my own, keep reading to see how our version of the heart pump experiment turned out. Look here for more blood and circulation curriculum ideas Materials Needed: -1 or 2 balloons-2 small cups (I used Take n’ Toss sippies)-Toothpick-2 bendy straws-Tape-water-Red food coloring (optional but it makes it more realistic)-Something to protect the area from flying “blood” Step 1) Cut the neck off of the balloon Step 2) Fill one of the cups 3/4 full with water &…

Blood & Circulation Activities
Updated September 2023 When homeschooling became mandatory (article originally written in 2020) it was clear the kids needed more to keep them busy than what the school was providing virtually. I decided to go back to what I had learned in elementary school. Things like cursive, memorizing multiplication facts and the states & capitals. I also decided to dive into the systems of the human body. (Affiliate links included, I may earn a small commission if you click on one of the links, at no extra cost to you!) We started with the basics- what is blood and how does it work in our bodies? Keep scrolling for blood and…

This week in homeschooling…
Originally posted May 2020 I always considered homeschooling my kids. I like the idea of teaching them things they are interested in and having the freedom and time to immerse ourselves in a topic. Eventually I decided against this because of a full time job. And also because I knew I could never have enough patience to argue teach my kids when they weren’t feeling it. Cut to 2020 Homeschooling is happening now whether I like it or not! I feel so lucky that we’ve had some crash courses in this over the past few summers (see here for ideas!). My kids are used to me attempting to make things…
